This week is all about what to do over the next two days as there’s tons of great shows right around the corner. More importantly I tell you where you can get free booze and look at pretty colours.
Well not really 100% free booze but I did at least get your attention a bit didn’t I?
Black Mountain
Head over to the Théâtre Fairmount tonight and you can catch Vancouver based Indie/Prog/Space rockers Black Mountain who released their fourth full length album, aptly titled IV, earlier this year and are now on tour in support.
They’re known for some epic and fairly lengthy tunes, my favorite being Space to Bakersfield, but since this column is supposed to be written to keep the attention of Millennials here’s a poppy track that’s just over 3 minutes long with all sorts of cartoon graphics and bright pretty colours.

MTL Uncovered
Tomorrow night at the Théâtre Paradoxe there’s a very cool and well thought out event going on that’s best described as a “cross-disciplinary arts gala”. Basically it’s a concert, visual arts display and dinner party all rolled into one.
There’s no less than six music acts with headliners for the event being Bayla and Taylor McCluskey, over 30 visual artists displaying their work and Chef Mark Bermudez in charge of creating all the wonderful food. All that and a free wine tasting! Maybe I should have led with free wine tasting.

Detroit Party Marching Band + Orkestar Kriminal + Birdbone Theatre
If you like horn sections, mardi gras and a party vibe then I suggest you head over to La Vittrola tonight and check out the music collective Detroit Party Marching Band. While I doubt the stage is big enough to fit all of them I’m pretty sure they really don’t need a stage to play on.
Who knows, maybe they’ll decide to march down St. Laurent and treat everyone to a free show!
Joining them on stage will be Orkestar Kriminal and Birdbone Theatre who also seem to have no fear of performing in public spaces. Here’s a great video for lovers of our Metro system and yet another encouraging sign that this evening might take to the streets.
